Countdown to the Thirty-Seventh Season of Saturday Night Live: Part 2- Predictions for the Premier

With the Premier of the 2011-2012 Season of Saturday Night Live airing tonight at 11:30pm on NBC, I thought it could be interesting to predict what special occurrances could take place. Seeing that Alec Baldwin is hosting, I really hope the cast and crew start things off with a bang. Of course, seeing as the past season did not turn out as great as I sincerely hoped, there is extreme caution brewing within my heart. Nevertheless, I would now like to present to you:

My 4 Predictions for When Alec Baldwin Hosts the Premier of Saturday Night Live's Thirty-Seventh Season

1. Tonight marks Alec Baldwin's sixteenth time hosting Saturday Night Live. This means that he is officially breaking Steve Martin's record. The later has emceed the show fifteen times; and his last hosting stint took place February of 2009. Therefore, I would not be surprised to see him make a special appearance of some kind. Perhaps he'll appear during the monoglue to congratulate Baldwin; or maybe the pair might engage in a comically over-the-top confrontation; thus delighting the audience. I would enjoy seeking a routine such as this; seeing as they have participated in sketches that made it appear that there is a rivalry between the two entertainers. These pieces were hilarious; considering that the two veteran hosts had great chemistry and the mock-jealousy they exhibited was more-than-great. Hopefully, we are not disappointed.

2. Since Alec Baldwin stars in the hit NBC sitcom "30 Rock," I would not be surprised if Tina Fey, the star and creator of the program, would show up as well. I could see her make a special appearance on Weekend Update; or even in a single comedy sketch. Also, since this is the season premier and the presidential election is next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Fey reprise her well-known impression of Former Alaska Governor and Republican Party Vice President Nominee Sarah Palin. In all honesty, however, her portrayal of the Former Governor has been way overexposed, and it might be to soon to see it once more; considering that Tina Fey revived the impression when she hosted Saturday Night Live this past May. Nevertheless, I really do expect that Tina Fey will be making some appearance tonight.

3. Since Alec Baldwin is a multiple-time host, I wouldn't be surprised to see, in addition to Steve Martin, cameo appearances by other stars who have hosted the show more than five times. I could see maybe Tom Hanks dropping by the show; seeing as he's hosted Saturday Night Live on eight occassions. I could also see John Goodman making a special appearance as well; seeing as he's emceed the long-running comedy show eleven hilarious times. In all honesty, it would be great to see all these multiple-time hosts together on screen during the monolgue or a segment of some kind. Imagine the audience's reaction! Their joy would definitely equal mine!

4. Finally, I could see Alec Baldwin reprising his Tony Bennett impression for a new installment of his reoccurring sketch "The Tony Bennett Show." Seeing as the famous musician has recently released a new album, it would be great to see Baldwin's impression back again. It should also be mentioned that the REAL Tony Bennett appeared in an installment of the sketch when Baldwin hosted in November 2006. In the sketch, the iconic musician was portraying a strugglingTony Bennett impersonator; while Baldwin was obviously meant to be posing as the real Tony Bennett. The whole sketch was hilarious and smart; and Tony Bennett was a good sport and was clearly enjoying the whole sement. Hencefoth, I would not be surprised to see the sketch take place once more.
