All in all, a very bad show

This may have been the absolute worst show of the season so far. Channing Tatum wasn't a very funny host at all and he hardly contributed anything memorable to the show at all.

The opening sketch was a creative idea; but the execution was weak. Bobby Moynihan's Newt Gingrich impression was very bad and it was the first of his many poor performances tonight. Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, and Kristen Wiig were good with what they had; but unfortunately, it was a very poor opening.

Channing Tatum's monologue was just a variant on the questions-from-the-audience monologue. Channing Tatum constantly bringing up the fact that he used to be a stripper before he was famous was annoying and his stripper moves towards the end were just an attempt to get a rise from the crowd. A very weak monologue that wasn't at all funny.

Kenan Thompsons' Cee-lo Green sketch wasn't funny at all and just seemed very rushed. Channing Tatum did an okay impression of Matthew MaCoughnahay;; but he didn't have anything to work with. Neither did Bill Hader, Vaness Bayer, and Nasim Pedrad; and the sketch wasn't funny at all.

Secret Word was presented once again; and just like its previous installments, it basically followed the same format. Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader gave good performances as their characters once again; though they didn't have much to work with. Channing Tatum's astronaut character was an interesting idea; but the execution just didn't go anywhere. The makeshift flashbacks felt tacked on as well.

Weekend Update was, for the most part, not very good. Seth Meyers' jokes weren't weren't very funny at all and it seems that he's not trying to deliver his lines in a genuine manner anymore. Bobby Moynihan's Guy Feiri impression was overexaggerated and just was an excuse to get the crowd going with the display of over-the-top food displays.

However, I did like Kristen Wiig's portrayal of Lana Del Ray. She gave a funny performance and I like seeing the writers poke fun at some of the show's previous musical guests that didn't give good performances. Wiig was good; and it was the best part of an otherwise forgettable Weekend Update.

The bar mitzvah sketch wasn't funny or entertaining at all. It didn't go anywhere at all; and Nasim Pedrad and Channing Tatum didn't make me laugh at all.

The sketch that featured Bobby Moynihan dressed as a woman was just stupid and written very poorly. Channing Tatum didn't add anything as Tom Brady and the whole segment was just very bad. The ending was especially bad.

The strip club sketch at the end of the show was just awful. Jason Sudeikis did the best he could with his role as the emcee; but the material he was given wasn't funny at all and it came off as very tasteless. The whole affair was just an excuse for the male castmembers and Channing Tatum to exhibit stripper moves; and the whole piece just felt very awkward. Just a bad way to end the show.

I did like Bon Iver's musical performances. Their mellow sound was a nice change of pace and they sounded better than Lana Del Ray.

All in all, one of the worst episodes of the season. Aside from Kristen Wiig's segment on Weekend Update, there wasn't anything entirely funny at all. Bill Hader was also good with what he had tonight; but unfortunately, other than playing the host of Secret Word, he didn;t get to star in a skech-- though he made quick but interesting appearances in the opening and the Cee-lo Green sketch. It should also be mentioned that Bobby Moynihan's annoying performances tonight have officially caused me to become tired of his antics; and I wouldn't mind if he left the show at the end of the season.

So far, 2012's episodes of SNL haven't been very good and I'm hoping that Zooey Deschennel is given better material when she hosts next week. I actually won't be live-blogging that show; as I will be going away for the weekend. But you can expect a review of the show posted when I return.

So that concludes my coverage of tonight's episode. You can all expect my next big film review posted on my blog by Monday night at the latest. So please stay tuned for that.

Thank you all for following me tonight. I enjoyed live-blogging SNL once again; despite the fact that the show was extremely weak; due to the writing, Channing Tatum's weak performance as the host, and all of Bobby Moynihan's bad acting tonight.

Thank you so much for following me once again. Good night everybody!
