That's the show
Not an entirely great show, but Louis CK was funny though. I just wish that the quality of the writing would be MUCH BETTER!!! Thank you all for following my blog tonight. Have a great night and stay tuned for more Nater-Tainment!
The sketch got funnier as it went on
Louis CK and Aidy Bryant gave good performances. And Bobby Moynihan wasn't bad as his female character at the end. Not a bad way to close the show. Though the episode itself wasn't entirely good due to the weak writing.
We are BACK!!!
Louis CK has been a good host tonight but the writing just isn't very good. This sketch is alright-- though how many times has SNL brought up Baby Jessica this season? Also, Louis CK is funny here, the writing just is not very good.
Good to see Kyle Mooney in another pre-taped sketch!!
I am glad he found his niche on the show. His awkward brand comedy is a good fit for SNL.
This hasn't been an entirely good show tonight.
The writing quality just isn't good. I feel VERY BAD for Louis CK having such very weak writing.
Commercials are on now
The opening, monologue, and Back Bennet's baby boss character have been the best parts of the show. The writing for the rest of the sketches just hasn't been great. Louis CK has made me laugh tonight, but the writing just isn't good AT ALL!!!!!
Another Cop sketch. Alright.
"Fat and Dyke"???? WOW!! What juvenile and lousy humor at all. Who is writing these sketches??? What a TERRIBLE waste of Louis CK!!!!
This concept for a sketch isn't very funny
I feel bad for Louis CK. Playing a character who wants to cut holes in Bayer's character's pajamas. And him wanting to make love to her on the floor.
Hopefully, this is a good sketch
Louis CK is playing a detective that wants to make love to his assistant-- played by Vanessa Bayer. I haven't been crazy about a lot of Bayer's sketches this season. A lot of her characters just haven't been very funny.
The writing has just become too juvenile for my taste-
I wish that Louis CK would get funnier material than this. He is a funny comedian and the SNL writers just give him mediocre quality of writing at best. What a shame.
The ending was a bit abrupt, but Louis CK was funny there
This seems like a good short filmed piece so far.
Louis CK's confused reactions to the ladies' singing is the funniest part of the sketch
The female castmembers are doing well in this sketch. Their performances are very good. And Louis CK is funny here.
Cecily Strong STILL hasn't been that great as a "Weekend Update" anchor as well.
"Weekend Update" hasn't been very great this season. Cecily Strong has been rushed into the position too quickly. I feel that "Update" needs some tuning up.
Jay Pharoah's performance as Stephen A. Smith isn't bad
The writing for his segment isn't that great though. Pharoah's performance is alright though,
Cecily Strong's and Colin Jost's jokes have not been great at all so far
I haven't been that impressed by Colin Jost as Cecily Strong's new co-anchor so far. He has a bland delivery and doesn't seem very funny.
I like that SNL has been getting more newer artists to perform on the show
I like that there's been a variety of musical guests this season.
I am glad they changed the format of the sketch this time
I am glad when they make an attempt to change the format of a sketch when they make it recurring. Louis CK and Beck Bennett had good chemistry
Beck Bennett is giving a good performance again.
He and Kyle Mooney are my favorite of the new featured players this season.
Wow!!! They are bringing back Beck Bennett's "Mr. Paterson' character
The boss with a baby's body. I am surprised that they brought back this character. He did a good job playing the character when Josh Hutcherson hosted this past November.
The sketch itself wasn't funny
Very predictable. Hopefully the next sketch is better. On a side note, Anna Kendrick should be a pretty good host next week. She is a good actress. Commercials are on now.
The sketch's set-up and concept has been predictable so far
Not an original sketch. But the performances are fine.
A parody of 'Jeopardy' for African Americans
I swear they did something like this before with a white contestant on an African-American game show.
Louis CK is a VERY GOOD stand-up comedian!
His monologue is MUCH BETTER than his one last season!! I am so happy he is getting to do this tonight!!
Good to see Kate McKinnon as Justin Bieber again!!
I love how she has his body mannerisms down pact. She looks so much like him, it's crazy. Not a bad opening. The writing was a bit better than usual lately.
Kyle Mooney playing the Pop was humorous
Taran Killam's performance as the White House aide is funny as well.
The 'Pharrell's Hat' bit is alright
The concept of various viral stars helping out President Obama is alright. Though I am getting a bit tired of Nasim Pedrad's Kim Kardashian impression.

Here is the Trailer for "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For"..
Like all of the movies I described below, I look forward to seeing this movie/ "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" features stories about some tough-as-nails protagonists who encounter extremely dangerous villains. The movie is a sequel to the 2005 original movie; and brings back some castmembers; including Mickey Rourke-- who plays the tough-but-compassionate Marv; who would do all he can to help out someone he cares for, I am also looking forward to seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt star in the film as a young gambler named Johnny; who comes into contact with the city's biggest villain. Even though the original film was quite violent, I liked the storytelling as well as the well-developed and well-performed characters. I know we are in store for more violence, but I am sure the acting and the stories will be very good.
Here is the Trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy"
This movie is one of the most anticipated comic book movies of the year. "Guardians of the Galaxy" revolves around a space pilot, named Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, who joins up with a group of interplanetary outlaws to escape a fierce villain. I am looking forward to seeing all the character in this film, which include a genetically-enhanced raccoon named Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper, and a walking tree-like humanoid named Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel. The movie has a "Star Wars"-like vibe that contributes to the fun of the movie. The movie looks like an exciting space adventure and I CAN NOT wait to see it!!!
Here is the Trailer for "X-Men: Days of Future Past"
I am very much looking forward to seeing this movie; as it connects the original X-Men films with "X-Men: First Class"; which opened back in 2011. I look forward to seeing Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen once again play Prof. Charles Xabier and Erik Leshnsherr (aka Magneto) respectively. The idea that Wolverine, once again played by Hugh Jackman, goes back in time to warn the young Xavier, played by James McAvoy, and the young Lehnsherr, played by Michael Fassbender, of an impending threat to both humans and mutants is a great one; and I am so looking forward to seeing the tw X-men film series to be tied together in this one movie. I ruly am looking forward to seeing this movie!
Here is the Trailer for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"
I am very excited about seeing Andrew Garfield play Peter Parker; who fights evildoers as the superhero known as "Spider-Man." As I loved the 2012 film, I look forward to see Garfield on screen once again with Emma Stone as Peter Parker's girlfriend Gwen Stacy. In addition, I am looking forward to seeing Jamie Foxx play the villian known as "Electro." Furthermore, I look forward to seeing Dale DeHaan play Peter Parker's childhood friend Harry Osborne; who may be on Peter Parker's secret identity as the superhero. The whole movie looks exciting and I cannot wait to see what happens!
From the Mind of Nate: A Look At Five of 2014's Biggest Comic Book Movies
Well, here we are. It is now Mid-March of 2014 and we are approaching that time. No, not the arrival of Spring. I am talking about the beginning of what will possibly be the biggest year for comic book movies. From the beginning of April to towards the end of August, we are getting FIVE very anticipated film adaptations of popular comic book franchises being shown on theaters nationwide. Throughout the Spring into the later weeks of the Summer, theaters will be showcasing big-screen adventures featuring brave heroes, sinister villains, and plenty of twists and plenty of surprises that will leave audiences clinging to their seats; anxiously awaiting to see what happens next. And judging by the posters and previews that have been show for the movies, it is clear to see that we are in store for A LOT of action!
Arriving in theaters on April 4th, is the first big comic book film of the year: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film, which serves as a sequel to 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger," once again starts Chris Evans as Steve Rogers; a World War II veteran who gained enhanced physical abilities, such as strength and speed, after participating in a secret government project-- eventually calling himself "Captain America." Evans' Steve Rogers, who, in the 2011 film, sacrificed his well-being through freezing himself in an attempt to thwart the plans of the villainous "Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) to destroy American cities. At the end of the film, our hero awakens in our modern-day world. In "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which is set two years after 2012's "The Avengers, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers is now working for the government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. and finds himself entangled in a mystery that could very much threaten the safety of the entire world. Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, along with fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson, a fellow agent, work for Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, the hard-headed director of .S.H.I.E.L.D.; who might be keeping some serious secrets about the organization away from our heroes. Eventually, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers comes into contact with a deadly enemy known as "The Winter Soldier", played by Sebastian Stan, who is, in actuality, a former close friend of our hero. I am quite excited about this seeing this movie, as Chris Evans' gave a strong performance as Steve Rogers. He maintained the brave spirit of Steve Rogers, aka "Captain America", throughout the original movie and I am very intrigued as to what awaits him in this soon-to-be-released blockbuster. In addition, while the original "Captain America" film fit in with the genre of World War II films, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" seems to be more of a modern-day spy thriller. I am also looking forward to seeing Chris Evans' Steve Rogers continue to adapt to our time as well as display more feats of pure bravery. In addition, I am curious to see how Chris Evans' Steve Rogers handles his confrontations with The Winter Soldier-- once he finds out the truth of his identity. I am expecting seriously emotional acting from Evans in these sequences. What's more, I am quite curious to see what mysteries pertaining to the orchestrations of S.H.I.E.L.D. will unravel in front of our eyes. Whatever secrets Chris Evans' Steve Rogers uncovers, we will discover as well. We are going to share in Steve Rogers' experiences. I am expecting many surprises and twists to take place throughout the film.

Swinging into movie theaters on May 2nd is another much-anticipated comic book film: "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". Directed by Mark Webb and with a screenplay written by Alex Kutzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinker, the sequel stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker; a high school student who, after getting bit by a genetically-enhanced spider, gains super-powers-- eventually donning the well-known outfit and going by the superhero name Spider-Man. In this follow-up to the 2012 film, Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker faces new villains; one of which is "Electro", played by Jamie Foxx, originally an electric engineer named Max Dillion, who, following an accident, gains the ability to control great amounts of electricity. I am greatly looking forward to this sequel; as Andrew Garfield bestowed a very genuine performance as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. Garfield's performance gets the audience to cheer for him throughout the movie. Also returning for the sequel is Emma Stone; who is once again playing Gwen Stacy, the girlfriend Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. I enjoyed Stone's performance as Gwen Stacy; as she portrayed her character as a supportive love interest. Her on-screen chemistry with Garfield was so great that audiences were able to root for them as the film unfolded. Audiences were able to completely believe their relationship and rheir scenes together were a treat to watch. In addition, I am also intrigued to see Dane DeHaan play Harry Osborn; the childhood friend of Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. In the comics, Peter Parker and Harry Osborne had a complex friendship; one that was a serious aspect of the comic book series. . Judging from the trailers for the "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". it looks as if Dane Dehaan's Harry Osborne has uncovered some information that could lead him to find out that Peter Parker may well be the crimefighter known as Spider-Man. I am very interested in seeing how our hero deals with his friend's suspicions; possibly leading to a grand confrontation between the two. Furthermore, all the trailers have proven that "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has great visual effects that will add further thrills to the movie. However, I am a little worried that the constant releasing of movie clips might spoil possible aspects of the movie. Needless to say, I am very excited about this movie!

Rounding out the month of May, we will be seeing the release of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Directed by Bryan Singer with a screenplay written by Simon Kinberg, the movie serves as a cross-over between the original X-Men film series- which includes "X-men" (2000), "X2: X-Men United" (2003), and "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006)- to the franchise's prequel film "X-Men: First Class"; which was released back in 2011. Being released on May 23rd, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" centers on the tough-as-nails Wolverine, once again played by Hugh Jackman, being sent back in time by Prof. Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, and Erik Lehnsherr(aka Magneto), portrayed by Ian McKellen, in hopes of stopping a serious threat that spells the end for all mutants and humans. The movie will show Hugh Jackman's Wolverine coming in contact with the younger selves of Xavier and Lehnsherr; played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, respectively-- both of whom last appeared in the 2011 release. What I am most looking forward to seeing in this movie is seeing the actors of the original film series being in the same movie as the prequel's cast; which includes Jennifer Lawrence portraying the shape-shifting Raven Darkholme, aka "Mystique", as well as Nicholas Hoult; who plays Hank McCoy-- who, when administering a serum that he hoped would rid himself of his animal-like feet, gained amazing strength and agility as well as his entire body being covered with blue hair-- ultimately becoming known as "Beast." Wat's more, I enjoyed the performances of James McAvoy, who plays the young Dr. Charles Xavier (aka Prof. X), who possesses great telepathic powers, as well as Michael Fassbender; who portrays the young Erik Lehnsherr (aka Magneto-- a powerful mutant capable of manipulating great amounts of metal. McAvoy and Fassbender worked very well together in 2011's "X-Men: First Class"; as both actors depicted the tense friendship between their characters. Fassbender's Erik Lehnsherr became obsessed with revenge following the murder of his mother in the original film by Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw; a very powerfully evil mutant who possessed the ability to control vast amounts of energy. Fassbender's Lehnsherr had become so corrupted by revenge and power, that once he murdered Bacon's Shaw, that he came to believe that mutants and humans cannot live together in peace and that the latter need to be eliminated. James McAvoy's Charles Xavier, however, strongly believes in the opposite and wants to stop Lehnsherr from destroying the human race. I am looking forward to seeing where McAvoy's Xavier and Fassbender's Lehnsherr are now and how they will take to the warnings of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. In addition, I am very excited to see Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen portray the older versions of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr once again; as they both gave commanding performances as their characters. Furthermore, I am looking forward to seeing Hugh Jackman involved in another full X-Men film as well as how he interacts with the younger selves of Lehnsherr and Xavier. I enjoy Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine; as he enables his character to remain ever-determined and fearless in his purpose. He always displays an exciting performance as Wolverine, and I am sure that he will not disappoint. In other words, there is A LOT to look forward to seeing in "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Fast-forwarding to the 1st of August, we see the next big comic book movie of the year: "Guardians of the Galaxy." Directed by James Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy" is the first-ever Marvel comics film to take place almost-entirely in outer space. With a screenplay written by Gunn, who also-co-wrote the story with Nicole Perlman, the movie centers around Peter Quill, played by Chis Pratt, an American pilot who, after stealing a valuable orb, teams up with a group of interplanetary outlaws. a fierce assassin named Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, a hulking warrior known as Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista, Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, a tree-like humanoid with the power of regeneration, and Rocket, a skilled shooter who happens to be a genetically-enhanced talking raccoon -- voiced by Bradley Cooper. Chris Pratt's Peter Quill must work together with his new associates in hopes to save the universe from the wrath of a treacherous villain known as Ronan the Accuser; played by Lee Pace. Like the other films I have discussed, I am very much looking forward to seeing this movie. For one thing, "Guardians of the Galaxy" is a lesser-known comic book series than other Marvel comic series like "Captain America", "Spider-Man", and "X-Men." So henceforth, it will be interesting to see how the movie will stand along the other comic book films released by the company. Also, I am quite looking forward to seeing Chris Pratt get a major lead role in a movie. I enjoy his performances on the NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation" as the naive-yet-lovable public worker Andy Dwyer. Pratt displays keen comedic timing on the sitcom, so I am sure that he will work well with the most fun and humorous sequences in "Guardians of the Galaxy." In addition, Chris Pratt has experience in dramatic films as well; as seen from his performance in 2011's "Moneyball" as baseball player Scott Hatteberg, whose career looked uncertain following a rupturing a nerve in his elbow and was given an opportunity by Brad Pitt's portrayal of Billy Beane to join the Oakland A';s as the team's new first baseman. Pratt gave a determined performance as Scott Hatteberg, so I am sure he can handle any dramatic material in the film. Furthermore, Zoe Saldana is a very good actress and has her share of being in previously released sci-fi films; particularly 2009's "Avatar" as Na'vi Princess Naytin as well as starring as Nyota Uhura; a crewmember of the Starship Enterprise in the new "Star Trek" film series. What's more, I am greatly looking forward to seeing Bradley Cooper voice Rocket; as he has proven to be skilled at playing sarcastic and quick-witted characters; as seen by his role as Phil Wennick in the "Hangover" films. In addition, I am curious to see how Vin Diesel, with his deep, gruff voice does with supplying the speaking for the tree-like being known as Groot. I admit the idea of a walking, talking tree-like being sounds a little over-the-top. But from what i have seen in the comics, I think the character will be interesting to see on the big screen. Also, I do not know a lot about Dave Bautista who will be playing Drax the Destroyer; but i will say, judging by how he looks like as the character, I think he will give a gritty-but-compassionate performance. In addition, seeing as the movie centers around an ensemble of characters, and knowing that films based on Marvel comics tend to have humorous moments, I am hoping for a great sense of chemistry amongst the group. I have everyone gets their fare share of one-liners and speeches that will enable audiences to ultimately root for these characters. With talented performers in this movie, however, I think we will be cheering for them. And lastly, judging by the interstellar setting of the movie and the design of all the intergalactic characters, I am getting a "Star Wars"-vibe from the trailer; which will help contribute to the fun of the movie. Long story short, ""Guardians of the Galaxy" has a lot of potential and could possibly end up being one of this Summer's most exciting action movies.

The final big comic book movie to be released in the Summer of 2014 is one that is not based on a series from Marvel. I am talking about "Sin City: A Dane to Kill For"; which is based on a graphic novel series from Dark Horse Comics. The movie, which is being directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller- the latter of whom created, wrote, and entirely drew the original series back in 1993-- focuses on different
tough-minded protagonists who come into contact with extremely brutal villains. Being released on August 22nd, the movie serves as a sequel to the original film, "Sin City.", which came out back in 2005. Having watched the original "Sin City" in theaters when it came out nine years ago, I must say that, despite the heavy violence throughout its duration, the stories were very well-written and the powerful performances kept my attention at all times. I am happy to see that Mickey Rourke is once again playing the hulking-yet-compassionate Marv, one of the major protagonists of the franchise. Rourke's performance in the original film was one of its best components and I look forward to seeing him in the sequel. In addition, looking at the cast of the sequel, I can honestly say that my excitement is brewing-- despite my slight concern about the violence that is bound to take place. For instance, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of my favorite performers today, will be portraying one of the sequel's protagonists. I enjoyed Gordon-Levitt's energetic performances when he hosted "Saturday Night Live this past season as well as back in 2009. I also hold in high regard his dramatic performance in 2011's "50/50" as Adam Lerner; a young man diagnosed with cancer and how his experiences with the disease affects his relationship with his best friend Kyle, played by Seth Rogen, as well as his mother ; played by Angelica Huston. Henceforth, because of his skills in giving dramatic performances, I have no doubt in my mind that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be able to play his character in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For"- a young gambler named Johnny, - greatly. In addition, I found the black-and-white visual style of the film-- which included occasional presences of colors (as seen in the eyes, hair, and clothes of some of the characters for striking effect)-- to be very effective and even artistic, In addition, the intense special and visual effects further helped the movie appear even grittier and, dare I say, more crazy. So, judging from the trailer for the sequel, it is clear to see that we are in store for the same kind of insane thrillride. With all of these aspects to consider, I can honestly say that "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" will keep my eyes glued to the screen. Except, possibly, during some moments of intense violence. During which, I will probably be covering my eyes.

So, there you have it. 2014 will most likely be the biggest year for comic book movies. All of these films are, in my opinion, very worth seeing. They all will have exciting stories to tell as well as very talented casts of performers who will bring the characters to life. The movies will all have sharp visual effects that will help contribute more excitement to the films. But most of all, these movies will be fun to watch on the big screen. And audiences can look forward to spending time in movie theaters this year in hopes of having a fun time as well as to cool off during the warmest of days this Spring and Summer. We have some truly exciting movies to took forward to seeing as well as talking about for hours on end after the credits roll.
So, what comic book movie are you most looking forward to seeing? Share your thoughts by clicking the "Comment" link underneath this article. Enjoy reading and I look forward to seeing which movies you are all most excited about. Thank you all for your patience and stay tuned for more Nater-Tainment!!

Mini-Review of The March 1st, 2014 Episode of "Saturday Night Live"
As I have said repeatedly throughout the past months, Season Thirty-Nine of "Saturday Night Live" has not been great. The writing is borderline terrible and talented hosts are being given sketches that possess weak premises and jokes that are very overly juvenile. But throughout the current season, I have remained optimistic; hoping that we will get an entirely great episode. And, I was hoping that when the long-running variety series returned from being off air during the 2014 Winter Olympics; seeing as the writers had a FULL FOUR weeks off to get their act together. When the show returned live on March 1st, however, I was saddened to see sketches that ranged from being either mediocre to downright bad.

I will say that Jim Parsons, who was hosted for his first time, turned in a solid performance. Right when he appeared in the cold opening-- a parody of Ellen DeGenerous' talk show, I could tell he would be a good host. Parsons played American Figure Skater Johnny Weir; who was gabbing with Ellen DeGenerous, portrayed by "Saturday Night Live" Castmember Kate McKinnon, about the Winter Olympics. Parsons turned in an energetic performance and he possessed good comedic chemistry with McKinnon throughout his time on screen. Meanwhile, McKinnon spoofed the talk show host flawlessly; humorously jesting that her show's writers were basically one woman, played by fellow castmember Aidy Bryant, and her dogs. I also loved how McKinnon's DeGenerous considering Outkast's "Hey Ya" to be the "hardest rap song" her DJ knows as well as how she wished she had never danced on her first show. In short terms, the opening was probably the best part of the show.

For his monologue, Jim Parsons performed a musical number about how he is nothing like his character "Sheldon Cooper" on "The Big Bang Theory." I had a feeling the writers would come up with a song-and-dance routine for Jim Parsons; considering that he has had theater experience. While Jim Parsons' overall performance was solid, the monologue was basically relying on the joke that his television persona is a geek and that he isn't. I did get a few laughs as the monologue went on; particularly from some of the "Saturday Night Live" castmembers appearing as characters from sitcoms. My biggest chuckles came from seeing Bobby Moynihan dressed as Jason Alexander's character "George Costanza" from "Seinfeld" and Jay Pharoah as well as Jay Pharoah dressing up as the character "Steve Urkel", who was played by Jaleel White, from the sitcom "Family Matters." The performances were good despite the weak material, thus making the monologue enjoyable.

Unfortunately, the show went downhill from there. The first sketch of the night was a follow-up to the classic children's story "Peter Pan"; which featured Jim Parsons as the character visiting The Darling Children-- Wendy, John, and Michael (played by Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, and John Milhisr). Unfortunately, Parsons' Peter Pan was accompanied by "Tonker-Bell" (Aidy Bryant"), the druken and obnoxious half-sister of his regular associate Tinkerball. The writing for Bryant's character was just plain bad-- with her acting unnecessarily rude and lazy. The ending of the sketch proved to be a bad one-- with Bryant's character about to have intercourse with one of the mice, played by Bobby Moynihan, from Disney's animated adaptation of the story of "Cinderella." The sketch's wirting was bad, but Jim Parsons gave a good performance. However, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, and John Milhiser were practically given nothing to work with.
The show went on with more mediocre sketches. One sketch, a legal show called "The Killer Files", consisted of Featured Player Beck Bennett playing the host and discussing activities of a serial killer, played by Jim Parsons, who would appear on 1970s'-era dance shows. Parsons gave a good performance as the creepy killer-- maintaining the same creepy facial expression for a majority of the sketch. The joke that the police finally arrested Parsons' character when he was given his own show was amusing; though that was probably the best writing of the sketch. Jim Parsons was good throughout the sketch. Though I feel the premise could have been a little better.
The next comedic piece that took place on the show was the evening's installment of "Weekend Update"; which featured Cecily Strong working with her new co-anchor- Featured Player Colin Jost. Jost is the replacement for Seth Meyers; who is now hosting NBC's "Late Night" every weekday beginning at 12:35am. Colin Jost did alright with his first appearance as Strong's new co-anchor; though his delivery of the jokes appeared a bit bland. In addition, he did not seem to have great comedic chemistry with Cecily Strong throughout the segment, though I will give him time to adjust to his new position on the show. Hopefully, his performance improves. as for the featured segments, I liked seeing Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah portraying retired basketball players Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal respectfully. Both performers had good lines and I always get a laugh out of Pharoah's constant eye-crossing and head-bobbing. However, my biggest laughs came from seeing Taran Killam turn to the "Update" desk as 178th Century Critic "Jebidiah Atkinson." I always get a laugh out of Killam's performance as this character; particularly as he keeps getting more and more angry every-time he says the word "Next" as he goes from one harsh review to the next. In this particular installment, Killam's character was reviewing Academy-Award Nominated films-- each one he hated. Killam had good lines as his character; though it was his overall performance that made me laugh. Taran Killam's "Jebidiah Atkinson" seems to be the only reoccurring character nowadays that actually interacts with the audience. And, I love how Taran Killam stays so much in character throughout the segment. In short terms, Taran Killam's "Jebidiah Atkinson" might very well be the most interesting "Saturday Night Live" reoccurring character right now. All in all, not a bad edition of "Weekend Update", though I hope that Colin Jost gets better as the season progresses.
Image of Taran Killam as "Jebidiah Atkinson" taken from http://snltranscripts.jt.org/13/13nupdate.phtml
As the night went on, the remaining sketches just weren't very funny. One such piece featured Jim Parsons as a company's boss who was taking the elevator in an attempt to get out of the building quickly after defecating in his pants when a loud explosion took place at a construction site nearby. Throughout the sketch, Parsons' character was holding a plastic bag containing his soiled undergarments while his employees, all played by "Saturday Night Live" castmembers, arrived in the elevator and started complaining about the terrible smell. The whole sketch was just a lazy and pathetic attempt to get laughs from the audience as well as a desperate attempt to fill time. I feel bad for Jim Parsons to have been given such a bad sketch. Though it should be mentioned that the following sketch was also poor; as it centered on Jim Parsons playing a cowboy , named "Dwayne,"who believed that the best birthday gift for one of his fellow wranglers was for him to paint himself the color of the dirt, bury himself without any clothes, and jump out screaming "Surprise"! While his friends all suggested other gifts, Parsons' character consistently claimed that his idea was the best one. The whole sketch left a bad taste in my mouth and I stared at my television with complete dissatisfaction.
Image of Jim Parsons as "Dwayne" taken from http://snltranscripts.jt.org/13/13ncowboys.phtml
All in all, I feel really bad for Jim Parsons to have been given such weak material. He was a good host who turned in a solid effort. He gave good performances and he possessed good comedic chemistry with the cast. Unfortunately, the writing truly suffered for this episode; and with seven shows left, I worry about how the rest of the season will go.
So, that is my review. Thank you all for following my blog. I will be posting an article by Friday night at the latest. My review of this past weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live" will hopefully be up by the end of the weekend.

Jim Parsons is giving a good performance though
That was stupid. What a waste of Jim Parsons. He should have been given better sketches tonight.
This sketch isn't very funny
The performances are alright. Though the material isn't funny. Just the whole joke is about Jim Parsons' character wanting to be buried in the ground with his body painted the color of the dirt.
That was a REALLY LAZILY-WRITTEN sketch!!!!
Just very bad excuse at comedy. This episode has featured really bad writing. im Parsons wasn't a bad host though. I feel like he could have gotten better sketches if the writers actually made an effort to come up with creative and entirely funny sketches.
The joke about the terrible smell isn't very funny. It is basically cheap bathroom humor
Weak material from the SNL writers. What else is new?
Good to see Featured Player Mike O'Brien get some more screentime
I do feel that they have too many featured players though.
Beck's performances tonight are very good!!
I like how he performs different styles of music each time he's on the show. His past two appearances on the show (Apri. 2005 and October 2006) were quite lively and catchy. His performances this time were more somber though veryengrossing. Very good performances tonight.
TThe sketch basically played out the same way the first installment did
Despite the good performances, I am just VERY TIRED of the writers rehashing sketches that were funny the first time. Can't they just come up with more original sketches with jokes that are creative and genuinely funny????? The writing just isn't very good!!!!
They did this sketch back when Lady Gaga hosted this past November
Vanessa Bayer is gives a good performance in these sketches. The performances by Jim Parsons, Sasheer Zamata, and Taran Killam are good.
I like seeing Featured Players Beck Bennett and Sasheer Zamata get screen time
Jim Parsons is giving a good performance. Though the writing isn't great. Also, that sketch ended a bit abruptly. More weak writing. That sketch could have been funnier than it was.
So, the guy doesn't know what 'oversexed' means
This isn't terrible. Though I think I know where the sketch is going. They are making Jim Parsons' character not know anything about sex.
Colin Jost did alright for his first appearance on 'Weekend Update'
His delivery is okay. He did look a little nervous throughout the segment. I hope he improves. I am hoping that he and Cecily Strong get more chances to interact together. .
The writing isn't very great
His performance is just funny to me. His delivery as this character makes me laugh.
I'm glad they are bringing back Taran Killam's 18th century movie critic
His performances always improve the weak writing of the segments.
Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah are humorous when they play Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal
Though Jay Pharoah's impression is funnier, mainly due to his delivery and his constant eye-crossing. I always like how he bobs his head around all the time.
I like this performance.
I always like seeing Beck on the show, His performances are always entertaining.
Beck is always good whenever he's the musical guest
This is his seventh appearance on "Saturday Night Live".
The writing in this sketch is not great
Bobby Moynihan's performance came off as more annoying than funny. This was not that great a sketch. Jim Parsons was good with his performance. And Mike O'Brrien was alright as well. I just feel the writing could have been funnier.
This 'Oscar Profiles' sketch isn't terrible
So far, the performances have been good. Jim Parsons as the nervous actor auditioning wasn't bad.
The part with him having his own show and that giving him away to the police was interesting
Though the execution could have been better.
The writing in this sketch isn't great
Jim Parsons' voice recording there was a bit humorous; mainly due to his deep voice.
Jim Parsons as a serial killer who murders people on dance programs
Jim Parsons was humorous there with his deadpan delivery as the serial killer.
I am not all that crazy with Lena Dunham hosting
Other than the opening, this show hasn't been very good so far.
obby Moynihan as the mouse from 'Cinderella'
That was not a very funny sketch. Aidy Bryant hasn't been very funny in a lot of sketches lately.
A 'Peter Pan' sketch
Jim Parsons does well playing Peter Pan. Though Aidy Bryant as Tinker Bell's half-soster isn't very funny.
Jim Parsons gave a good performance there
Though the joke of the monologue was kind of obvious at the start. I blame the bad quality of the writing.
Jay Pharoah as Steve urkel
Kenan Thompson used to play Bill Cosby on 'All That' on Nickelodeon back in the 1990s.
I like how he joked about How 'Big Bang Theory' repeats are shown many times a day
I had a feeling they would do a musical monologue for him
This is the first episode without Seth Meyers in a long time
And Colin Jost's first appearance on the show
I like Kate McKinnon keeping on changing her body position when sitting in the chairs.
Kate McKinnon and Jim Parsons have good comedic chemistry.
JThat bit was humorous.
Good to see Jim Parsons in the opening. His impression of Johnny Weir is good.
I like this opening so far
The joke about the dogs writing the show was cute. As well as McKinnon's DeGenerous saying that her viewers are all 42 years old.
